Day 48 (b) – Memo to Self: Find Nicer Routes

by Bill Wallace on May 25, 2008

This week has been a little weird. With the FBH going off for her 3 day break I thought I would be able to get into the running and swimming better if only because there was one less person to worry about.

WRONG!

I’ve only exercised 3 times this week and only twice after the last weigh in. Needless to say the scale has gone … up!

One thing I have resolved to do is run slower but for longer. I’d like to get into a 60 minute run just so I know I can do it. My 4km run is short enough to make me get it over and done with. But it doesn’t help my stamina.

I’ve also found that people elsewhere are running in far nicer places than “to the shops and back”. So I’ve started looking for prettier places to run that will also help me get my times up so I can actually do a 12 km run in a reasonable time.

My work has decided to do Perth’s City to Surf 12km run at the end of August so we’ll start training together for that soon.

I’ve also noticed Andrew has some nice runs and he takes the time to post photos which are almost as exhilarating as doing the run itself. Must follow Andrew’s example.

Then there is Victoria over at “flirty n dirty” who has some great pics from where she runs! (I love the creativity of people with their blog names!)

So my “shop run” is so … DULL.

In the next few weeks I plan to be a little more creative and come up with some better views and hopefully increase my stamina.

Today will be a “Bridges” run in Perth, which is about 10km. I don’t plan to run the whole way but as long as I complete it! So all I have to do is get half way, then get back! LOL

I’ll keep you posted (pardon the pun!)
