Day 112 – Crappy Week, First Race Tomorrow

by Bill Wallace on July 26, 2008

It’s been 6 days since my last post and I have done zero exercise in that time. No running, no push ups and no sit ups. :(

Crappy Week

Work has been a tad stressful this week due to a range of issues. However, that will die down as they get addressed and life returns to normal. I did think of exercising as a way of releiving the stress … but didn’t!

First Race

And tomorrow I have my very first race. Just a 5km race so nothing overly strenuous but I thought I should start small and build from there.

I’ve been looking at a few results pages of previous races to estimate where I might end up. It’s quite a humourous task.

My goal is 25:00 for the 5kms.

In one race it would have placed me 3rd in my age category so I was quite inspired.

In another race I would have been 37th!

So I conclude to just run my own race and try and do sub 25:00.

My weight this week hit a PB with the scales being tipped at 79.1kg. I celebrated with a chicken parmigiana! :) (I figure I’ve got a week to re-lose it!) But in the end I have 3.1kg to go and I am really pleased that my “normal” weight is now around 80kg rather than the 88kg just 16 weeks ago.

100 Sit Ups

I got another email from young Steve Speirs with an update on how everyone is going with the challenge. The reminder was timely so I must get back on the push up wagon. Thanks Steve.

The exercise really is the best way to manage that work stress – try and get it in when you get home after a bad day – it really helps me.

Good luck with the race – just run your own race sounds like a good plan – hope you get your time goal.

Great when you can maintain/lose weight when you’re not exercising!

Well done on the weightloss. I was wondering what had happened to you.

Good luck with the race tomorrow. Remember not to start off too fast! Looking forward to the race report!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the support. Will let you know how I go. I picked 25:00 out of the air so it’ll be interesting to see if I get close.
    Hope you’re doing well.
