Exercise Summary:
Saturday: 10km run – 53.40
Sunday : 5.6km walk – around 60 minutes
The last two weeks have been a little weird. Little exercise, not overly conscious of what I’m eating. Oh well. Can’t change the past.
Fortunately a couple of great things happened:
- New shoes arrived: Brooks Adrenalin GTS 8
- Garmin Forerunner 305
- FBH’s birthday
The shoes are great, very comfortable and made the 10km run a lot easier than my older Adidas runners.
The Garmin’s debut has to wait until it’s charged so that will be a little later. Really looking forward to it, though. Now I can run anywhere I want and know how far it’s been. It comes with a Heart Rate Monitor so I’ve handed the Polar RS200 over to the FBH (Happy Birthday Baby!
)
The FBH’s birthday started with a breakfast in Cottesloe at the Blue Duck then a walk that took around an hour. Overall it was around 5.6k (measured in the car) so it was a casual stroll but a great time to just walk and talk.
Unfortunately the 100 Push Ups has taken a back seat. (Sorry Steve et al) but I promise to get back into it this week.
The reality to all this being that I am “not there yet” and need to keep focusing on consistency. Running itself is no problem. The 10km run was a small impro0vement on my last few runs. I’m running more and walking less. By the time the City to Surf comes round I should be able to run the whole 12kms.
I’ve also found a hill near my house that is pretty steep. The Garmin will tell me what the elevation from top to bottom is (stay tuned). I’m hoping I can do that 2 or 3 times a week and help build my leg stamina for the race.
Just want to say a quick thanks to those who gave me a nudge and wondered what had happened to me and the lack of posts. I appreciate the effort, thanks guys.
