My last post about the City to Surf was at Minus 26 (26 days before the event), that means 25 days have passed without a post. Well, that’s not so good.
What is good is that I have been training and getting ready as best much as I can. My training during August, while not ideal has been a lot better than previous months and (how good is having a goal?) I feel I’m getting back into it.
Today, the day before the run I did a light 4.5 km at a pace of around 5.30/km. Not flash but I tend to run better in a crowd so I’m hoping the event itself might take a few seconds / km off my time.
Last year’s result was 1:04. This year I’ll be happy with around 1:10. Lower would be better but the training just hasn’t been there so if I expect better I’m setting myself up for failure. And I think you do really know what a realistic time will be … deep down.
The main thing is to enjoy the day and the weather looks like it’ll be ideal, so I can’t ask for much more.
So after the race tomorrow I’ll come clean and post my time.
