A Couple of Good Runs

Things you see when you haven't got a gun! :)

After the flu lingered a while I decided to just head out anyway. Plus it was World Running League week 3 and we were up against team 16. Their previous 2 weeks has seen them complete mileage (that’s M.I.L.E.S.) of 93.75 and 66.84 miles. The word “freaks” comes to mind but they would probably just take that as a compliment (which I guess it kind of is! :) )

Team 8 (us) had the envious stats of 9.53 miles and 13.99 miles. So we were on the way UP as Team 14 were on the way DOWN.

We had them!

So the final result of Week 3 was:

  • Team 16: 87.45 miles
  • Team 8: 23.12 miles

Close but not quite. Luckily it’s just a fun competition!

Although beating our previous best by 10 miles was a great effort with one member not running (not sure why).

Anyway, it got me back into running with a 12km on Friday and 10.5 on Saturday.

I’ve taken it a bit easy as running was becoming less enjoyable. Trouble with shoes, feet etc and then the flu. So this week and the next few will be keeping to a regimen of “walk a song, run a song” and just get the distances up.

I still like running with music but I may have to exit that strategy to listen to my Garmin 305 as I try and get control of my heart rate. I find at the end of every run I’ve spent too long in Zone 5. Which means I’m not managing the run very well. And I’m still learning to get the most out of the 305.

I plan a 10km run this afternoon and will try and leave the iPhone at home.

Fired of a few snaps this time. Mainly because I’m trying to manage my patience and taking pictures forces me to slow down. No idea how Andrew can do it (glad he does though!) I want the run done with once I start. The other reason is I do run in some nice places. May as well share.

This was when the FBH and I were on a great Sunday motorbike ride. This is in Mosman Park, Perth. Tough life!

I'm not envious, honest! :)

That’s my bike on the right, raring to go.  It really is a nice part of the world. And while we are very much looking forward to our European holiday we realised we live in a pretty city. We just don’t always make the most of it. As I am sure we can all attest to at times in our home towns.

It was a glorious day and we ended up at the Mad Monk restaurant and tasted some of their beers. Not bad and a great way to spend a couple of hours.

Anyway, off for a run around the ‘burbs!

You’re right, PErth is a beautiful city. It’s about 10 years since I’ve been over there … should change that!
