Commenced training for 2010. A 5km run that is the first step in Hal Higdon’s Marathon training for novices. I started this last year but fell apart very quickly. Not this time.
Although the day is glorious here I still struggled to get up. I have to run in the morning. Evening’s are possible but life is changing with the kids growing up and empty-nesting. There’s a lot to do so evenings are generally taken up with other things.
But, get up I did and headed out. No warm up, just a brisk walk then into it, keeping the pace low and casual. It was breezy and the breeze was quite cool so I contemplated turning around and jumping back into bed. I was wearing a new Adidas sleeveless top which didn’t help. I have a Brooks long sleeve top which is really comfortable in all weather so I was wishing had worn that. (God I whinge sometimes!!!
)
And so the run went well. I warmed up and got over the cold and kept up a steady pace. Walked a bit at the halfway point but them completed the last 2.5 kms at a steady pace.
Day 1 Completed.
I already have a challenge in that I fly out to Brisbane and Gold Coast tomorrow so the schedule is going to be interrupted. It’s an early flight so a run in the morning might be at risk (unless I kick ff at 5am, which is quite possible) but, with no family matters tomorrow night a run in the city or on the hotel treadmill should be relatively easy.
Have a good week.

Great to see you out there tearing it up.
Hi! I am reaching out to you in the hopes you would be interested in a writing opportunity. Our company is hard at work, promoting the new Charter Fitness social networking campaign.
