Happy Australia Day

by Bill Wallace on January 26, 2010

Today it’s a holiday in Australia to celebrate Australia Day – January 26.

There are some political undertones of when day this should be celebrated and what it might be called (“Invasion Day” is one suggestion). However to me it is a day to celebrate that we live in a truly awesome country. We have our issues, problems, debates and challenges but, taken as a whole it’s a pretty good place to live.

And the funny part is we are such a diverse nation of all sorts of cultures. My view (not trying to be political folks, just my view) is that we take advantage of every benefit a culture can give us. I married an Italian and so I get to eat awesome food, have a great extended family, make our own tomato sauce and argue without anger! :)

And so, here on AUSTRALIA Day, is what we had for breakfast – Bruschetta! what could be more Australian than that? :)

Fresh tomato from Mum’s garden, feta cheese (Greek), olive oil, fresh figs (grilled) on toasted Italian bread. Washed down with fresh 100% OJ.

A good “Australian” breakfast – Bruschetta

ENJOY!

What did you have and how did you celebrate at least the fact that you had a day off! :)
