Graphs, figures, stats … some of the more motivating aspects of my life until …
You will see from the graph comparisons below that March ain’t so good. Not only is it bereft of any exercise it looks much worse when compared to February.
February was my best month ever … over 100ks run and the plan for the Marathon was well on track.
Best month of runs
Now, due to the Achilles debacle, the runs are non existent.
Below is March so far. Note that not only is there one work out, but it was 10 days ago. Compare that to February where the biggest break was only 2 days!!!
... and the worst month ...
Sure I’ve ridden the bike and that is good cardio, but there is something about running which, well, just does it for me. Especially as the runs were getting longer.
Achilles Update
Achilles is still slightly swollen. Back to Physio on Monday morning. Can’t see em running for another week or two.

Can you challenge yourself a bit more on the bike to get your heart rate up to a similar level as you do when running. I did that last year with my 30@30 goal (to ride 30 km at an average speed of 30km./hr or greater). Your goal might be different depending on your bike and current level of bike fitness, but setting a goal like this, or maybe finding a good hilly bike ride route, might be good? It is very easy (I find) to be lazy when cycling and not really get the cardio benefits. It is not as easy to do this when running – I think that is the main difference.
Yes, quite right. I admit that I don’t come home and challenge myself to get on the bike. In fact, the opposite a little. I think of a run, realise I can’t and then settle in for the evening. I will go and ride the bike this afternoon. Thinking of spin classes too, have you done those? Thoughts?
